Why?
he wanted a rest from the Established church
it was founded because he wanted a refuge for quakers
How?
william penns dad was an admiral in the british army and the king was indebted to him 16,000 pounds.
so after williams dad had died he inherited the debt.
he went to the king and said that he wanted land instead of money
he got one of the largest charters given to one man in America
it was about fourty thousand square miles.
Where was it?
west of the Delaware River and from the northern boundary of Maryland to the north "as far as plantable.
from the Delaware River over the Appalachian mountains and down the western slope by the ohio valley
How was the land?
vast fertile region
beautiful rivers and mountain ranges,
it had alot of minerals and stuff.
It was inhabited by Indians alone
What was it like?
freedom of worship and religion was granted to everyone
it was well advertised and by 1700 it was the third biggest and riches colony in the New World
